Workshops ARK & WRI networking
ARK for Beginners
Two members of ARK staffThis
workshop will give a brief history of Antiwar Campaign Croatia and an overview
of its current activities.
Objectives
The aim of the workshop is to inform participants about ARK's peace and human
rights work in Croatia -- especially in war-devastated areas and urban
environments.
Methodology
The first part of the presentation will be illustrated by photos and maps. The
second part of the workshop will be devoted to answering questions from the
participants.
WRI's programme on Nonviolence and Social Empowerment
Howard Clark, Britain/SpainThis
will be a planning meeting for those who want to work with WRI on this theme,
in preparation (including fund-raising) for the WRI conference envisaged for
Bengal. This work could include preparing workshops in your own country to
evaluate social movement activity in this framework.
WRI Strategic Planning
Joanne Sheehan, chair-elect of WRI, USA and Ellen Elster, WRI Council member, NorwayThis
workshop presents and explains the significance of the institutional Strategic
Plan and is mainly oriented towards the representatives of the WRI branches.
The presented plan has undergone different consultations and is close to being
ratified by the Council so it can start being implemented.
Objectives
- Present the plan which has been completed over the past three years.
- Provide background informa-tion about the plan in order to give the
participants the chance to make an informed decision about it as
representatives of their sections in the Council Business Meeting. - Provide the representatives with enough information so they can put the plan
into practice when they return to their section or affiliate group.
Methodology
Each participant will have a copy of the Strategic Plan. So far, there is only
an English version, but we will try to get it translated into other languages
used by our branches. There will be time for comments on the text and
examination of mechanisms for putting it into practice.
Electronic Networking
Andreas Jaeger, ARK, CroatiaThe
internet - What is it? Useful, necessary, or just a waste of time and money?
Objective
The workshop wants to explain what electronic networking basically is, how it
works and how relevant its use for NGOs is.
Methodology
The workshop will be divided into three parts. First an introduction for those
who have heard about Internet but do not know yet what it is and how it works.
Secondly we will demonstrate how the different services of Internet are being
used by Zamir. Third, the participants will have the chance to try this out
themselves.
There will be two workstations connected to the Internet system. The
participants who have an own account, will be able to use these workstations to
access their e-mail at home.
