WRI to coordinate a strong antimilitarist presence and the London European Social Forum

The War Resisters' International Executive Meeting discussed the European Social Forum, which will take place in London in October or November 2004. It was decided that a strong nonviolent and antimilitarist presence at the European Social Forum is desirable. The WRI Executive therefore encourages its European affiliates to mobilise for the ESF, and to offer workshops and seminars - individually and jointly.

The WRI Executive thinks that a coordinated series of antimilitarist workshops, with coordinated extra promotion during the ESF, could increase visibility of antimilitarist/nonviolent analysis at the ESF.

The WRI Executive suggests that the WRI Council in June should issue a WRI Call to ESF - a clear antimilitarist mobilisation for the ESF, and that the WRI Office could play a coordinating role during the ESF, trying to coordinate antimilitarists from all over Europe. Short-term volunteers from WRI affiliates would be very welcome to help manage this.

The WRI Office will also try to produce a broadsheet (4 pages tabloid format) for the ESF, which will promote the workshops/seminars and will try to provide a framework of nonviolence and antimilitarism for these workshops/seminars.

Der Vorstand der War Resisters' International hat das Europäische Sozialforum, das im Oktober oder November 2004 in London stattfinden wird, diskutiert. Es wurde entschieden, dass eine starke, gewaltfreie und antimilitaristische Präsenz beim Europäischen Sozialforum wünschenswert ist. Der Vorstand der WRI ermuntert daher die europäischen Mitgliedsorganisationen der WRI für das Europäische Sozialforum zu mobilisieren, und Arbeitsgruppen sowie Seminare anzubieten - individuell und gemeinsam.

Der Vorstand der WRI ist der Meinung, dass eine koordinierte Reihe antimilitaristischer Arbeitsgruppen, mit koordinierter gemeinsamer Werbung während des Sozialforums,
die Sichtbarkeit der antimilitaristischen/gewaltfreien Analysen beim Europäischen Sozialforum steigern könnte.

Der Vorstand der WRI schlägt vor, dass der Rat der WRI im Juni einen WRI-Aufruf zum Europäischen Sozialforum verabschiedet - eine klare antimilitaristische Mobilisierung für das Europäische Sozialforum - und dass das WRI-Büro während des ESF eine koordinierende Rolle spielen könnte, und versuchen könnte, AntimilitaristInnen aus ganz Europa zu koordinieren. Kurzfristige Freiwillige aus WRI-Mitgliedsorganisationen könnten dabei behilflich sein, dies durchzuführen.

Das WRI-Büro wird sich auch bemühen eine Massenzeitung für das ESF zu produzieren (4 Seiten Zeitungsformat), die die Arbeitsgruppen/Seminare ankündigen wird und versuchen wird, einen gewaltfreien und antimilitaristischen Rahmen für diese Arbeitsgruppen/Seminare zu bieten.

El comité ejecutivo de la IRG trató la cuestión del Foro Social Europeo que se celebrará en Londres en octubre o noviembre de 2004. Se acordó que sería de máximo interés contar con una fuerte presencia antimilitarista y no-violenta en dicho Foro. Por ello, el Ejecutivo de la IRG anima a sus afiliados europeos a movilizarse para el FSE y a ofrecer seminarios y talleres, tanto de manera individual como conjunta.

El Ejecutivo de la IRG propone que el Consejo de la IRG que se reunirá en junio emita un llamamiento de la IRG al FSE: una clara movilización antimilitarista durante el Foro en la que la oficina central de la IRG podría desempeñar un papel coordinador de cara a la misma, intentando aunar a antimilitaristas de toda Europa. Sería muy bienvenida la colaboración de voluntarios de afiliados de la IRG para ayudar a organizar estas movilizaciones.

La oficina de la IRG también intentará confeccionar un boletín (4 páginas en formato de periódico) para el Foro, que dará promoción a los talleres/seminarios e intentará proporcionar un marco de no-violencia y antimilitarismo para los mismos.

La IRG ha creado una lista de email para coordinar estas actividades.

Le comité exécutif de l'Internationale des résistant-e-s à la Guerre a débatu du Forum Social Européen, lequel aura lieu à Londres en octobre ou novembre 2004. Il fut décidé qu'une présence antimilitariste et non-violente importante au Forum Social Européen est souhaitable.

De ce fait, le comité exécutif de l'IRG encourage ses affiliés européens à se mobiliser dans le cadre du FSE, et les encourage à proposer des ateliers et conférences - de manière individuelle ou coordonnée.

Le conseil exécutif de l'IRG pense qu'une série coordonnée d'ateliers antimilitaristes, avec une promotion spécifique et coordonnée au cours du FSE, pourrait accroître la visibilité de l'analyse antimilitariste et non-violente dans le cadre du FSE.

Le comité exécutif suggère que le conseil de l'IRG en juin publie un appel de l'IRG pour le FSE - une mobilisation antimilitariste claire dans le cadre du FSE - et que le bureau de l'IRG pourrait essayer de jouer un rôle de coordination pour les antimilitaristes de toute l'Europe pendant le FSE.

Des bénévoles sur de courtes périodes issu-e-s des affiliés de l'IRG seraient bienvenu-e-s pour apporter une aide afin de gérer cette coordination.

Le bureau de l'IRG va aussi tenter de produire un 4-pages pour le FSE, afin de promouvoir les ateliers/conférences. De même, il essaiera de mettre en place un cadre antimilitariste et non-violent pour ces ateliers/conférences.
