UK activists shut down Elbit factory

Social movements across Colombia are facing severe repression and violence from the police and military. The demonstrations began on 28th April 2021 as a general strike was called in response to an unpopular tax reform and the mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Activists from the UK group Plaestine Action have shut down a factory run by Israeli arms company Elbit, in solidarity with Palestinians.

In May, activists from Greenpeace and Urgewald in Germany have taken action at the headquarters of German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall, highlighting the impact of weapons produced by the company on civilians around the world.

Unionised dockworkers in the ports of Livorno and Naple have refused to load a shipment of arms destined for the Israeli port of Ashdod, in a show of solidarity with Palestinians facing a military attack from the Israeli Defence Force.
