Hunger as a Weapon of Genocide: WRI Denounces Israeli Crimes in Gaza

In this ‘war against life,’ hunger has become yet another instrument of genocide, a structural violence that silently kills by removing the possibility of satisfying basic needs. Famine is wiping out a generation of babies, girls, and boys, destroying an entire people with physical and psychological injuries that will be difficult to reconcile with a dignified life.

Hunger kills, and the hunger imposed on Gaza by the Israeli government is a despicable and terrible crime against humanity, another contribution to the ethnic cleansing being carried out against the Palestinian people. We demand an immediate end to this situation, as well as to the use of other tools that are part of this genocide.

We also denounce the use of hunger in other parts of the world - especially Sudan, Congo and Yemen - where it is being used a weapon of genocide, as a weapon of war.

At War Resisters' International, we continue to stand for disarmament and demilitarisation, and support the struggle against the causes of these crimes. We are committed to the values of justice and peace. We call for disobedience to the orders of governments that impose a system of death, and remain committed to the preservation of life for humanity and the rest of nature.
