Oman: British tear gas used against protesters

en

In late May, a journalist working for website Declassified UK identified UK-made tear gas being fired against protesters in Oman.

Phil Miller shared a photo from Oman, which clearly shows a spent Rubber Bursting CS Grenade gas canister produced by Derby-based company PW Defence Ltd, model number N225/227/229. The canister appears to have been manufactured in 2012. Since 2015 the UK has licensed over £16 million worth of tear gas to Oman. According to Campaign Against Arms Trade the figure is likely to be far higher than this because there have been multiple "open licenses" which allow them to export unlimited amounts.
