Small Actions, Big Movements conference in Cape Town – a celebration of nonviolent resistance
More than 200 activists and campaigners from around the world gathered at Cape Town's City Hall for a five day conference co-organised by WRI and the Ceasefire Campaign. The conference looked at how all forms and scales of violence are interconnected - from domestic violence to war and multi-national military interventions. Participants were welcomed to Cape Town by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. At the conference there were eleven theme groups and nearly fifty workshops, plus concerts, exhibitions and several parallel events, which made of the conference a unique event to celebrate nonviolence resistance in Africa and worldwide.
