WRI makes submission to Colombia government on law proposal

en

War Resisters' International have submitted a statement to the Colombian government, as a law that will regulate rights to conscientious objection progresses through the Colombian parliament.

The submission will be input to the relevant parliamentary committee through ACOOC (Acción Colectiva de Objetores y Objetoras de Conciencia).

The statement reminds the Colombian parliament of international standards around rights to conscientious objection. It also calls upon them to abandon plans to allow a national committee to judge the authenticity of a declared objector, instead allowing objectors to declare their own status and be granted rights without inquiry.
