We are currently crowdfunding for a new website - The Nonviolent Resistance Manual will be an online space for all of WRI's resources in nonviolent resistance and social change. We are aiming to raise £1000, and have some exciting 'perks' (like tshirts, tote bags, books and badges) as a 'thank you' for your support.
Starting this month, we have a new member of staff joining us in the WRI office. Sarah Robinson will be with us for a year as part of the Quaker Peaceworker Programme. Welcome to WRI, Sarah! Read Sarah's letter below:
In Spring 2016 War Resisters' International launched a new campaign focusing on the escalating cycle of violence in Turkey. As part of this campaign, initiated in response to demands from WRI activists in Turkey, we have also launched a petition addressing the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini, on behalf of the European Union. The appeal was calling on the EU not to lose sight of the situation in Turkey, and to take action on the escalating violence in the country.
Next month, WRI are hosting four live webinars, on constructive programmes: new worlds in old shells; international solidarity with Syrian nonviolent resistance; countering the militarisation of youth around the world, and stop the cycle of violence: solidarity with Turkish antimilitarists. The webinars are part of our annual Council meeting, this year held online. There will also be our decision-making forums, which all members of WRI affiliates can take part in, as well as observers.
