Ukraine: Ruslan Kotsaba on trial again

Ruslan Kotsaba

UPDATE, 1st February: At Ruslan's trial on 31 January, the court in Bohorodchany declared itself biased, most likely because of international pressure. It referred the case back to the Court of Appeal in Kiev, and it's likely that that another court in the region will be commissioned to continue the proceedings. Further CO-Alerts will follow.

From Connection e.V.:

(30.01.2018) Journalist and conscientious objector Ruslan Kotsaba again stands trial in Bohorodchany in Ukraine on 31 January 2018. He is known for his pacifist appeals against the war in Eastern Ukraine. He also called to boycott the illegal mobilisation for the so called 'anti-terrorist operation' in the Ukraine.

Ruslan Kotsaba was first arrested in February 2015 and has been sentenced to three and a half years of imprisonment for obstruction of the Ukrainian armed forces. Only after 524 days of pretrial imprisonment he was released by the appeals chamber in July 2016.

Now the country's High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases decided on 1 June 2017 that the case would have to be reopened. For this reason Ruslan Kotsaba needs international support.

Please sign the petition and demand with us the immediate confirmation of Ruslan Kotsaba's initial acquittal.
