ISRAEL: Update on imprisonment of conscientious objectors
While Jonathan Ben Artzi (ISR12371) is waiting for the outcome of the hearing at the Supreme Court on 8 April, to determine where he will be tried at a civilian or a military court, the "justice" machine in Israel lead to new imprisonments, and new court-martials.
Matan Kaminer (ISR12840) was confined to base on 6 March 2003, awaiting his court martial. He already spent 98 days in military prison.
Noam Bahat (ISR12842), who already spent 98 days in prison too, is also waiting for his court martial, and confined to base.
Adam Maor (ISR12843), also 98 days in prison so far, and also confined to base until his court martial.
Shimri Tzamaret (ISR12847), also 98 days in prison so far, and in detention during court martial.
Ilai Karmon (ISR13181) was sentenced to 28 days in military prison no 4 on 16 March, and is due to be released on 13 April. He already spent 28 days in prison earlier.
Haim Feldman (ISR13182) was sentenced on 19 March to 21 days in prison for refusing to serve in the Occupied Territories. He is due to be released from military prison no 6 on 9 April 2003.
N S (ISR13183 - wishes to remain anonymous) will be released tomorrow (5 April). He was sentenced to 28 days in prison for refusing to serve in the Occupied Territories on 9 March 2003.
Ilia Ginzburg (ISR13184) was sentenced on 17 March to 28 days in military prison no 4 for refusing to enlist. He is due out on 13 April 2003.
Alon Endorn (ISR13185) was sentenced to 28 days on 19 March for refusing to serve in the Occupied Territories. He is due out of military prison no 6 on 15 April 2003.
E. K. (ISR13186 - wishes to remain anonymous) was sentenced on 1 April to 14 days in prison for refusing to serve in the Occupied Territories. He us due out of military prison no 6 on 12 April 2003.
