WOW... such a slanted rant. This article was not written to be honest, rather it was written to be negative and raise eyebrows. It also appears to try and incite racist thoughts... for example this article states: "One British owned bar displayed a poster of a pig in a yashmak with the words, "We respect your religion--that is why we refuse to serve you." ... in fact you can find this sort of racism in all countries, however it is not quite so obvious... but i would also like to point out the majority of bars are run by English or German speaking people, and 99% of those welcome everyone to their establishments... but if you go to the bars that cater to the Arab clients, 80% will not serve, or will make it obvious that they don't want to serve a white skinned person unless he speaks an Arab language. So it is unfortunate, but racism goes all ways. however, if you want to mingle with people from all parts of the world, 98% of all bars will have a generous mix of the worlds races, all seem to be smiling and enjoying their vacation.
Lets face it... this article is nothing more than an exaggeration.. however it is true in some respects, but it is not the norm. The writer, Julia O'Connell Davidson, has an agenda, and that agenda is not to be completely honest, it is to put a negative view on Thailand.
