Nonviolence in Action online conference - 20th-28th November

Join us for Nonviolence in Action: Antimilitarism in the 21st century an online conference bringing together activists from across the international peace movement to learn, strategise and build solidarity.

The War Resisters’ International (WRI) network – and the whole international peace movement - finds itself at an important crossroads. Over the last hundred years we have been resisting war and its causes. In that time the nature of war has itself changed beyond all recognition, and our resistance has also changed, broadened and adapted. WRI works with many groups, organisations and individuals all over the world, supporting, connecting, learning, resisting. Nonviolence in Action will bring us together to reflect, learn and challenge one another to develop more effective strategies for taking nonviolent action against war and its causes.

The event will run between two weekends. Plenaries will be delivered by a number of speakers sharing their experiences and ideas. Discussion spaces will be participatory discussion spaces (we have timed these to allow people from both hemisphere’s to join at sociable times) to reflect on the issues raised in the plenaries. Workshops will be on more specific themes, issues and causes.

The plenaries are public events open to anyone to attend, and will be held simultaneously in English and Spanish. Some of the other events are restricted to members of War Resisters' International and our member organisations. If you are not a member but would like to attend please email

I am interested in attending the November conference. I am a writer and activist, and member of the AJ Muste Institute board of directors.

We have had a kind offer from an individual donor, who will match up to £5,000 of donations from others - so by supporting War Resisters' International today your donation is worth double!
