Title of Position: Countering the Militarisation of Youth Programme Worker

War Resisters' International, a network of pacifist organisations and individuals around the world, is looking for a staff-person for its Countering the Militarisation of Youth Programme. Fundraising will be an integrated part of the programme work.

Application pack:

This position has guaranteed funding for two-days a week for one year. It is very likely that this position will extend beyond one year, and that the position may be more than two days a week from its commencement in February 2015, but we are unable to guarantee this at this stage.

We would prefer the worker to work from WRI's office in London, however because this role is part time, we will be unable to sponsor a work permit to allow someone to work in the UK should they not already have a work permit. Therefore, we are willing to negotiate a worker working remotely from outside the EU, for example from their home, or from the office of a WRI affiliate. The application form asks about your availability to undertake this role in terms of hours and location. Please note, if you do opt to work remotely, you will be expected to spend at least two weeks in the WRI office in London from your start date.

Salary: £25,380 (gross) per year pro rata (i.e., £10,152 gross per year for a 2 days a week position), with a cost of living increase at the beginning of each financial year. WRI staff are entitled to 28 days of holidays pro rata (11 days for a 2-day-a-week position), and a 1 month paid sabbatical after 5 years. WRI does not operate a pension scheme.

Deadline for applications: Midnight (UTC), 23 November 2014.

To apply, please fill in the form that you can download here, and submit it with the subject '[insert your name]: CMOY Programme Worker application', to the e-mail address info@wri-irg.org.

Please attach the application form to your email. Please do not submit a CV. You may also submit a covering letter as an attachment to your email if you wish.

Please note: we only accept forms submitted by email.

We are currently also hiring a Nonviolence Programme Worker. We will accept an application for both positions, however we do ask that you fill in a separate application form for each role.

Start date: to be negotiated; preferably 2nd February, 2015.

Shortlisted candidates

There will be two shortlisting stages for this post.

Stage one will include a phone interview between 1 – 12 December

The final stage will be a second interview taking place between 9 – 12 January. This might include travel to London.

Equal opportunities

War Resisters' International would like to be an equal opportunities employer, but we regret that currently we cannot live up to this standard in full. WRI’s offices are located on the first and second floor at Kings Cross are not suitable for wheelchair access. If you are unsure whether you would be able to work in the WRI office because of a mobility impairment that you have, please contact us by e-mail or phone. WRI does adhere to the principles of equal opportunity in employment in all other respects.

If you have questions, please contact: info@wri-irg.org
