ISRAEL: More conscientious objectors in jail

Over the last 10 days, more conscientious objectors went to jail in Israel, for refusing to serve in the Occupied Territories or in the army in general.

First Sgt. Omri Tzalmona (ISR12042), 23, from Tel Aviv, was sentenced on Friday, 11 April, to 35 days in prison. He is imprisoned in Military Prison No 4.

Major Shimko El-Ami (ISR12043), 33, from Jerusalem, was sentenced on 14 April to 28 days for refusing to serve in the Occupied Territories. He is imprisoned in Military Prison No 6.

First Sgt. Amit Brook (ISR12044), 24, a biology student, was sentenced to 28 days on 15 April. He is imprisoned in Military Prison No 6.

First Sgt. Daniel Yakobovitz (ISR12045), a cinema student, was sentenced to 28 days on 18 April. He is imprisoned in Military Prison No 6.

First Sgt. Amir Samuel (ISR12046) was sentenced to 35 days on 18 April. He is imprisoned in Military Prison No 4.

First Sgt. Nir Maor (ISR12047) was sentenced to 28 days on 19 April. He is imprisoned in Military Prison No 4.

Sgt. Major Idan Ashur (ISR12048), 34, a chemistry student, was sentenced to 23 days on 19 April.

Sgt. Levi Oren (ISR12049), 28, was sentenced to 28 days on 19 April.

First Sgt. Shai Yakir (ISR12050) was sentenced to 28 days on 19 April.

Ram Alfiah (ISR12051), a signatory to the Courage to Refuse letter, was sentenced to 14 days on 20 April.

Sgt. (res.) Ovadyah Ezra (ISR12052), 42, of the army medical corps, was sentenced to 14 days in prison, plus 14 days suspended sentence, on 20 April. He is impprisoned in Military Prison No 4.

Victor Sabranski (ISR12053), 18, from Naharyia, reported yesterday to the induction base, to refuse service in the Israeli army. It is likely that he has been imprisoned, as he didn't call his support group yet.
