ISRAEL: Four more conscientious objectors in jail
Four more conscientious objectors were jailed in Israel yesterday. Igal Rosenberg (ISR11885) was sentenced to 14 days in prison, after seeing the unsuitability committee yesterday. He already spent time in prison twice - 3-21 February 2002 and 26 February to 22 March 2002 - for refusing to enlist in the army. Igal Rosenberg was among the signatories of the Open Letter of high school students to Prime Minister Sharon, published in September 2001, and signed by more than 62 Israeli youths.
Sgt. Sean Laikov (ISR12030), 32, a yough conselor from Kibbutz Tzora, was sentenced to 35 days in Military Prison No 6.
First Sgt. Gilad Hyman (ISR12031) from the tank corps was sentenced to 28 days.
Yaron Hoffman was sentenced to 28 days in Military Prison No 6.
