Dear readers of CO-Update.

Welcome to the last issue of CO-Update for 2010. Due to staff holidays, the next issue will only be published in January 2011.

Since the 1950s, War Resisters' International published a list of Prisoners for Peace for 1 December - Prisoners for Peace Day. Far from being complete, the list mainly serves to highlight that all over the world conscientious objectors and peace activists face prison for their actions - from a few days to several years. This year's list includes conscientious objectors from Armenia, Colombia, and a range of other countries, and nonviolent activists from Sweden, the USA, and other countries.

Solidarity with Prisoners for Peace is highly important. It servers to raise awareness for the lack of peace, and the lack of a right to conscientious objection in many countries of the world, but more importantly, it can help to protect a prisoners from abuse, and - when sending cards or letters to prisoners - to lighten up their day behind bars, and give them strength.

This is why War Resisters' International is asking everyone to put aside at least one hour on 1 December, and to write at least four cards to prisoners. The list is permanently being updated, and can be found at http://wri-irg.org/node/4718.

To continue to do this work War Resisters' International depends on your donations. We therefore kindly ask you to donate to WRI online at wri-irg.org/en/donate-en.htm.
